Chris Hall's sculpture has evolved over the last 30 years from being a projection of an "idea" to a direct experience with his chosen media creating stone, wood and bronze sculptures. In practice this means responding to the hidden qualities of particular pieces of found material. Working with nature nourishes him. He has learned to observe the work that nature has already begun and nature has become his teacher. For a creative dialogue to begin he need only look closely at what is already happening in a given piece of rock, wood, landscape or plant.
Chris likes to place sculpture in a context that has meaning for him. Therefore he has undertaken work in sacred places in the UK, for example the cloisters of Iona Abbey, or in landscapes design for a specific piece. An important aspect of his sculpture services are bespoke commissions, where a relationship is necessary between craftsman and client. His commissions can be created in either stone, wood and bronze sculptures.
