Fanny Lam Christie was born in Hong Kong in 1952 and moved to Scotland in l998. She now lives and works in Perthshire. A graduate of sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, having previously studied painting in Hong Kong, her effort has been focused on our relationship with nature and the environment. She expresses her work in mixed media which includes sculpture, installation, video, painting and drawing.
Flux (middle bottom) hinges on the effects of climate change. It engages viewers to consider their own immediate environment, and to contemplate the future effects of change in a global context.  Many of Fanny's works have strong links to the landscape and draw from the natural world often using interesting juxtapositions of material and subject matter to really challenge the viewer to reconsider their ideas and outlook.  For example in Clear Fell (middle upper), the water installation reflects the history of the site where trees were felled to make way for building a mill. The row of clay tree stumps represents the felling process. Water gathers in the lower level as a pond and the many tree rings floating in the pond resemble lilies giving a feeling of tranquillity which contrasts with the more sombre tone of the tree stumps
It is this edge that makes Fanny's work so exciting and so valuable in a garden context.
